Alex Trebek honored with postage stamp 

The late “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek will be honored with a U.S. postage stamp that will be available beginning next month.

The U.S. Postal Service announced Friday that Trebek will be featured on a new postage stamp to be released July 22. “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings also revealed the stamp on Friday’s episode, noting it was available for preorder starting Saturday.  

The Postal Service said the stamp “evokes the style of the game” because it resembles one of the monitors that gives out the clues during the talk show.  

The prompt reads, “THIS NATURALIZED U.S. CITIZEN HOSTED THE QUIZ SHOW ‘JEOPARDY!’ FOR 37 SEASONS”. The correct response is written upside down below the prompt and reads: “Who is Alex Trebek?”

The Postal Service said it is launching the stamp to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary. Sony Pictures Television launched its Diamond Celebration earlier this year to “to celebrate the remarkable legacy of America’s Favorite Quiz Show.” 

The stamp is available to preorder online, selling for $14.60 for a sheet of 20 Forever stamps.  

Trebek died at the age of 80 in 2020, more than a year after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He continued to work while undergoing treatment and served as the host of trivia show “Jeopardy!” for 37 years.
