Former President Trump is blasting George Clooney as “very disloyal” for the actor’s New York Times essay calling on President Biden to bow out of the White House race.
“Whether you like Biden or not, you know, he’s been nice to Clooney,” Trump said Friday on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.”
The “Gravity” star, who last month hosted a record-breaking Hollywood fundraiser for Biden’s campaign, penned a Wednesday op-ed saying Democrats are “not going to win in November with this president.”
Citing 81-year-old Biden’s age and disastrous performance against Trump at last month’s debate in Atlanta, Clooney wrote that “the dam has broken.”
“We can put our heads in the sand and pray for a miracle in November, or we can speak the truth,” he said.
“I thought it was very disloyal, backstabber, third-rate movie actor,” Trump told co-hosts Sexton and Travis, before knocking the 63-year-old Academy Award winner’s career.
“He was a television actor and never made really a good movie. So he’s sort of third-rate,” he said.
“Clark Gable he’s not. I thought it was a great act of disloyalty,” he added.
A Clooney representative didn’t immediately respond to ITK’s request for comment.
Trump had also slammed Clooney, one of Hollywood’s top supporters and fundraisers for Democrats, a day earlier following the publication of The New York Times essay.
“He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything?” the former president said in a Truth Social post.
“Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television,” he said.
Trump’s camp has also been fundraising off of Clooney’s break from Biden.
In a Friday fundraising email from Trump National Committee JFC and signed by Trump, the ex-commander in chief said, “George Clooney just said Biden should drop out. Does that mean he’s endorsing me?!”
“Even though he’s a proud member of the Hate-America Hollywood Elite, I will gladly accept his endorsement IF he pledges to change his ways!” the email said of Clooney.
