(NewsNation) — Rap legend Snoop Dogg will carry the Olympic flame Friday for the final stretch before the Paris games’ opening ceremony.
“Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame,” Saint-Denis Mayor Mathieu Hanotin posted to X.
The rapper will carry the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, the northern Paris suburb that’s home to the stadium where some of the Olympic events will take place, according to ESPN.
Snoop Dogg confirmed his role in this summer’s Olympics on X: “U gots to do it!! Will u be watchin?? #FollowTheDogg #ParisOlympics.”
He is also contributing to NBC’s coverage of the Paris games.
French actress Laetitia Casta and rapper MC Solaar will join Snoop Dogg in carrying the torch, the report said.
However, it remains unknown who will light the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony. This will be revealed moments before it happens.
