Taylor Swift ‘at a complete loss’ after fatal UK stabbing at class themed around her music

People leave flowers near the scene on Hart Street where the day before at least three children died and several were injured in a knife attack during a Taylor Swift-themed event at a dance school in Southport, England, July 30, 2024.

Popstar Taylor Swift says she is “at a complete loss” after three children were killed and seven were critically injured after being stabbed at a Taylor-Swift-themed dance and yoga class in the United Kingdom on Monday.

“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously, and I’m just completely in shock,” Swift wrote in an Instagram story. “The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders.”

“These were just little kids at a dance class,” she added. “I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”

Local police said a 17-year-old male suspect was arrested in the mass stabbing and remains in custody. He has not been named by police, although a name has been shared online.

“This name is incorrect and we would urge people not to speculate on details of the incident while the investigation is ongoing,” police said.

The stabbing is not being treated as “terror-related” and they are not looking for other suspects related to the attack, authorities said.

According to the BBC, Swift’s fans have raised the equivalent of tens of thousands of dollars to support the victims.
