Kai Trump thanks ‘Grandpa’ for ‘great courses’ as she commits to golfing at Miami

Kai Trump thanked her grandfather, former President Trump, for giving her access to “great courses” as she announced her verbal commitment to play golf at the University of Miami on Sunday.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Miami. I would like to thank my mom, Vanessa, and my dad, Don, for always supporting me through my journey. I would also like to thank my great team for getting me to this point. I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support,” Kai wrote in an Instagram post.

The Miami Hurricanes women’s golf team also shared Kai’s post on its Instagram story.

Kai Trump, 17, is the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife, Vanessa Trump, who both shared photos congratulating their daughter on social media.

“So proud of my (not so) little girl,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote on Instagram.

She is an avid golfer and has frequently posted photos online of her participating in the sport and alongside her grandfather. She posted a photo alongside former President Trump in March after she won a tournament at one of his golf courses in Florida.

“I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be,” Kai Trump wrote Sunday.

Kai Trump stepped into the national spotlight last month to talk about her grandfather at the Republican National Convention, where the former president was spotted smiling throughout her speech.

“I’m speaking today to share the side of my grandpa that people don’t often see. To me, he’s just a normal grandpa,” Kai Trump said last month. “He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking. He always wants to know how we’re doing in school.”
