Biden to record video message for ‘Vax Live’ concert
President Biden and first lady Jill Biden will appear in a prerecorded video message for Global Citizen’s Vax Live concert Saturday night, the White House announced.
The concert, which is aimed at encouraging everyone to get the coronavirus vaccine, starts at 8 p.m. ET and is being hosted by artist Selena Gomez.
Others set to participate in the star-studded lineup include Vice President Harris and Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
Global Citizen said in a statement earlier this week that the president’s appearance was part of the White House’s We Can Do This initiative to “increase public confidence in COVID-19 vaccines while reinforcing basic prevention measures, such as mask wearing and social distancing.”
The concert will be available to watch on numerous TV networks and platforms.
A number of stars and politicians from around the world are expected to make an appearance, including Chrissy Teigen, Ben Affleck, Jimmy Kimmel, Sean Penn, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, David Letterman, Gayle King, Nomzamo Mbatha and Olivia Munn.
Currently, more than 150 million people in the U.S. have received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.
