Lawmakers to play in charity tennis match
Along with Dent and Edwards, Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.), Jim Costa (D-Calif.), Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.), and former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) are all poised to hit the court for the fundraiser with Kastles players Martina Hingis, Murphy Jensen, Bobby Reynolds and Anastasia Rodionova at the Kastles Stadium at the Wharf in Southwest Washington.
Reps. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), who co-chair the Congressional Tennis Caucus, will also be picking up rackets for the competition. Bishop’s office tells us, “Fresh off a co-MVP performance in the Congressional Baseball Game, Congressman Bishop has kept his footwork and reflexes sharp” in preparation for the event.
All of the proceeds from the match (general admission tickets are $10 at Ticketmaster) benefit the D.C. Public Education Fund, Food & Friends and TAPS.
