Actress Pamela Anderson opened up about her feelings toward Julian Assange in a blog post on Thursday, calling him “my of my favorite people,” though stopping short of addressing rumors that the two are dating.

“Julian is a human being who is extremely empathetic and cares deeply about the world,” Anderson wrote in a post on her website. “And because of his work he has made some powerful enemies in a few countries — America especially by exposing them.”

Assange, the controversial founder of WikiLeaks, is currently residing in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has been since 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden on rape charges. He has denied the allegations.

In her blog post, Anderson argued that Assange might be “the most famous, most politicized refugee of our time,” and expressed her admiration for his work.

“Julian is trying to free the world by educating it,” Anderson said. “It is a romantic struggle – I love him for this.”

Rumors began circulating in recent weeks that Anderson and Assange are an item after the actress and animal rights activist was spotted visiting the embassy in several times. In an interview on Swedish television on Friday, Anderson admitted that she has been spending quite a bit of time with Assange recently.

But she also downplayed a romantic relationship between the two, saying that his confinement to the embassy would make dating challenging.

“Let’s see what happens when he’s free,” she said, according to Reuters. “But you know I spend probably more time with him than any other man socially, which is very odd.”
