Laura Bush reveals she’s had White House tea with Melania Trump
Former first lady Laura Bush said Wednesday she wishes President Trump and his family the best, and has been back to Washington to have tea with Melania Trump.
“I just think she’s done a lovely job,” Bush told CNN. “She’s a beautiful woman. She’s a wonderful representative for the United States.”
Bush added, “I’ve talked to Melania. I’ve been back and had tea with her.”
The former first lady didn’t discuss her views on the Trump administration’s policies, but said she sympathizes with the criticism the first family deals with.

“I wish them the very best,” Bush said. “That’s what every American should wish for the people in the White House since they are our president and first family.”
Former President George W. Bush, Laura’s husband, made headlines a couple of weeks ago when he gave a speech condemning bigotry and isolationist policies in what many saw as a rebuke of Trump, though he did not specifically name him.
Both Bushes left their presidential ballots blank when they voted last year.
