Susan Rice shares Roseanne’s past tweet comparing her to an ape
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and national security adviser Susan Rice on Tuesday shared a past tweet by Roseanne Barr comparing her to an ape as Barr comes under heavy fire for making a similar comparison about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett.
“susan rice is a man with big swinging ape balls,” Barr had tweeted in 2013 before later deleting the message.
Rice retweeted a user who tweeted an image of the message at “Roseanne” star and executive produce Sara Gilbert, who had called Barr’s racist tweet about Jarrett “abhorrent.”
You know this wasn’t Roseanne Barr first time calling a black woman an ape — pic.twitter.com/zGLTNE6ZPv

ABC canceled the reboot of “Roseanne” Tuesday after the actress’s tweet saying Jarrett was the child of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.”
Barr deleted the tweet, apologized and said she was leaving Twitter, but condemnation of her comments was swift and all but universal.
Gilbert was among the members of the “Roseanne” cast and crew who sought distance from the comedian’s remarks.
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.

This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.

Barr’s talent agency ICM also dropped her as a client on Tuesday.
