Here’s how politicians celebrated Halloween

The upcoming midterms might be the scariest thing around for some politicians, but lawmakers did not miss a chance to have some Halloween fun on Wednesday.

Several political figures shared photos of themselves and their families dressed up in costume for  trick-or-treating and other festivities.

{mosads}Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), dressed as Wonder Woman, got the whole family involved – including her dog in a Superman t-shirt and cape.

U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams also shared a photo of himself and his daughter, Millie, dressed up for Halloween.

“Remember to be safe and enjoy your candy … in moderation!” Adams tweeted.

Other lawmakers sharing Halloween costumes included Reps. Susan Brooks (R-Ind.), Jody Hice (R-Ga.) and Sean Duffy (R-Wis.).

Retiring Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), who was born in Cuba, dressed up with multiple generations of her family, and shared a sweet message about her first Halloween in the U.S.

“When my brother and I arrived in the US so many years ago, we knew we were in paradise cause kids went door to door and got candy!” she wrote.

And President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., shared a few photos of his kids in costume trick-or-treating.

“Great Halloween trick or treating with the monsters,” he tweeted. “Hope you all had a good one and that the kids don’t eat too much of their candy at once.”

Rep. Beto O’Rourke (Texas), a rising Democratic star, did not share his own costume, but was the subject of many others. The Senate hopeful shared a now-viral photo of a “Baby Beto” donning his signature blue shirt and “Whataburger” cup.

And if any lawmakers and their families stopped by GOP Rep. Mark Sanford’s house, they would have received a dose of knowledge to consume with their candy – the South Carolina lawmaker handed out pocket Constitutions to trick-or-treaters.
