The Cuban native was a former outfielder with the Major League Baseball who wrote a whistle-blowing memoir called “Juiced,” which explored athletes’ use of steroids, including his own.
Canseco also appeared on Trump’s reality television show “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2011.
The isn’t the first time Canseco has made a pitch to join the Trump administration.
He tweeted at then-president-elect Trump in 2016 saying he would made a good choice for ambassador to Cuba for chairman of the Federal Reserve.
Hey little buddy @realDonaldTrump good pick on bobby for Japan. I would be open to Ambassador of Cuba job or Fed Chair. See u soon

Trump is amid the search to replace chief of staff John Kelly, who will leave his position at the White House at the end of the year.
Canseco’s offer comes after vice presidential chief of staff Nick Ayers turned down the job, which reportedly frustrated the president.
The Trump White House has expressed hope that Trump will find a replacement by the end of the month.
The next chief of staff will need to lead the White House through the challenges of having a divided Congress, the special counsel investigation into Russia and the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
