Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) will be the first guest on the new Showtime late-night talk show Desus & Mero.
Bronx comedians Desus Nice (Daniel Baker) and The Kid Mero (Joel Martinez) will have the first-year New York lawmaker on their debut show Feb. 21.
{mosads}In the teaser video, Ocasio-Cortez announces that she is “forming an exploratory committee to be the first guest on Desus & Mero.”
Ocasio-Cortez, who represents the Bronx and Queens, has seen her prominence rise since defeating 10-term Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) in the 2018 primary.
She has appeared on other late-night programs including “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Baker and Martinez have interviewed several politicians, including Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and former Attorney General Eric Holder, on previous iterations of their program.
Gillibrand will appear once again on the show this season. Musicians John Legend, Vince Staples and Pusha T as well as actors Issa Rae and Ben Stiller have also been announced as upcoming guests.
