Actress Jameela Jamil urges critics to ‘stop fat-shaming Trump’
British actress Jameela Jamil on Wednesday urged President Trump’s critics on the left to stop “fat-shaming” him and target his policies and behavior instead.
THE LEFT HAVE GOT TO STOP FAT-SHAMING TRUMP. There are a million other ways to describe what he is and what he is doing, without going for a pointless blow that just attacks fat people. It’s embarrassing to watch you all think it’s funny.

“The Good Place” star wrote that people should criticize Trump’s “treatment of marginalized people” and “his decision to keep children in cages separated from their parents.”
“Don’t just hurt innocent people with your lazy, childish low blows,” she added.
Criticize his policies, his behavior, his treatment of marginalized people, his decision to keep children in cages separated from their parents… don’t just hurt innocent people with your lazy, childish low blows. Does more damage than good. It normalizes fatphobia. ❤️

{mosads}Jamil has become a vocal advocate for body positivity and has spoken about her own struggles with weight.
She told BuzzFeed’s “AM to DM” last year that her relationship with her body changed when she was forced to be weighed in front of her classmates.
“We had to be weighed in front of each other and you would see the number come up in front of everyone,” Jamil said. “And I was the heaviest girl in the whole year, and so … for the next three weeks all I could hear was people talking about how I was the heaviest girl in the year.”
She said the moment became a trigger for unhealthy eating practices that led to her developing “full-formed anorexia” and body dysmorphia around age 14.
Jamil has also taken on the Kardashian family for hawking teas and supplements that advertise easy weight loss to their young fans in paid promotions. She created a Change.Org petition calling on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat to stop celebrities from promoting such advertisements.
Her petition had over 242,302 signatures as of Wednesday.
