R. Kelly ordered held without bail: report
R. Kelly is reportedly being held without bail following his arrest on federal sex charges.
The “Ignition” singer was ordered held without bail on Tuesday at a U.S. District Court hearing in Chicago, The Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Federal attorneys argued that the 52-year-old performer was an “extreme danger” to the community and was a flight risk, according to the paper.
Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, cited one of the Grammy Award-winner’s songs in his defense of his client, according to one reporter:
“Unlike his most famous song — ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ — Mr. Kelly doesn’t like to fly.” – Greenberg arguing Kelly isn’t a flight risk.

The latest charges against the singer come months after the Lifetime documentary “Surviving R. Kelly” aired. The series, which debuted in January, detailed a series of sexual abuse allegations against the entertainer and included interviews with multiple women who had accused him of abuse.
Kelly was also charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in February.
