Swalwell to release book giving ‘inside account’ of Trump’s impeachment

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) is writing a behind-the-scenes book about the impeachment of President Trump that he promises will include an “inside account” of the action in Congress.

“Endgame: Inside the Impeachment of Donald J. Trump” will “take readers behind the scenes of Congress’ courageous defense of the rule of law, following the investigation and impeachment of a rogue president,” its publisher, Abrams Press, announced on Thursday.

“It’s my inside account of America’s public servants stepping up and Congress taking action to rein in a president who put his own interests over national security and our elections’ integrity,” Swalwell, a former 2020 White House hopeful, said in a statement.

Details of the book’s release were unveiled a day after the GOP-led Senate acquitted Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, which were approved by the Democratic-controlled House.

Trump celebrated his impeachment acquittal on Thursday, saying in remarks at the White House, “We went through hell, unfairly. Did nothing wrong.”

“While Donald Trump’s Senate fixers rigged his ‘acquittal,’” Swalwell said, “our effort to hold him accountable was the beginning of the end for his corrupt presidency.”

The book by the 39-year-old lawmaker is poised to be released in April.
