Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande release duet as salute to coronavirus first responders
Pop stars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande released a new song called “Stuck With U” Thursday honoring first responders amid the coronavirus pandemic.
All net proceeds from the streams and sales of the single will be donated to the First Responders Children’s Foundation to fund grants and scholarships for the children of health care workers, EMTs, paramedics, police officers and others serving during the coronavirus pandemic.
The lyrics describe staying at home with loved ones, with Grande and Bieber singing, “Got all this time on my hands / Might as well cancel our plans / I could stay here for a lifetime / So lock the door and throw out the key.”
Grande said in a statement that she and Bieber had a “really great time” collaborating on the project, USA Today reported.
“We’re very excited about this for so many reasons,” Grande said. “We hope we make a big difference with this and we hope it uplifts you and makes you feel happy and that you love it as much as we do.”
The music video features the two, Bieber’s wife Hailey Baldwin Bieber, fans alongside their pets and loved ones, health care workers and others dancing to the song.
Multiple students also appear, wearing formal outfits for proms and graduations that have been canceled across the country due to social distancing measures.
“More than ever we are seeing the selfless, tireless and amazing work that doctors, nurses and healthcare providers give to the world every day,” Bieber said in a statement provided to USA Today.
“It is our hope we can lend our voices to raise awareness and give much-needed support for them and their families,” he added.
Several celebrities appear dancing in the video as well, including Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Demi Lovato, Jaden Smith, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, among others, E! News reported.
Bieber and Grande join a slate of celebrities who are donating to funds supporting first responders and people suffering amid the ongoing pandemic, in addition to raising awareness about social distancing and other health measures.
