Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds donate $500,000 to organizations supporting homeless, trafficked youth

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are donating $500,000 to organizations committed to supporting homeless, trafficked and at-risk youths in Canada.

Covenant House Vancouver, a charity organization based out of Vancouver that supports those between the ages of 16 and 24 who are fleeing abuse or are homeless, announced the donation in a tweet on Wednesday.

In the tweet, the organization said the couple will be donating $250,000 to support its work in Vancouver, as well as $250,000 to support the same work at Covenant House Toronto.

“In an incredible act of kindness and philanthropy, @VancityReynolds and @blakelively are donating $250,000 to @CovenantHouseBC and $250,000 to @CovenantHouseTO to support homeless, at risk, and trafficked youth across the nation,” the organization tweeted.

The move comes months after Reynolds, who was born in Canada, and Lively donated $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada to help support older adults and low income families, whom they noted had been “brutally impacted” by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who’s isolated and might need connection,” Reynolds said at the time, while also urging his followers to donate to the organizations if they can. 

“I think we can all agree, Covid-19 is an asshole. If you’re able to help, visit, @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada,” he wrote.
