Krispy Kreme: More than 1.5M free doughnuts given to vaccinated customers
Krispy Kreme says it’s given away more than 1.5 million doughnuts for free to customers vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The chain on Tuesday gave an update on sweet treats it’s offered on the house since March 22, when it first launched its vaccine promotion. The retailer said then that it would give a free doughnut away every day through 2021 to Americans who can prove they’ve gotten their shots.
Krispy Kreme also said Tuesday that vaccinated customers can double up on their ring-shaped goodies on Friday as part of National Doughnut Day.
“All Krispy Kreme fans can enjoy any doughnut of choice for free, no purchase necessary, and get a $1 Original Glazed dozen with the purchase of any dozen to share the annual holiday with family and friends,” the company said in a news release.
“But for those who have received at least one COVID19 vaccination shot, Krispy Kreme will also honor its free Original Glazed doughnut offer if you show a valid vaccination card, meaning millions of Americans can get two free doughnuts Friday!” added the chain, which has more than 350 stores throughout the country.
The giveaway, Krispy Kreme said, was a way of saying thanks for “helping us get past this pandemic by getting your COVID-19 vaccine.”
Half of all American adults have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to data released last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
