Bristol Palin announced on Thursday that she is pregnant with her second child.
The 24-year-old reality TV star and daughter of former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) revealed that she was expecting in a post on her blog.
“I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant,” she wrote.
“Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one,” Palin said.
{mosads}“I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends and to many of you,” she added.
Palin recently called off her wedding to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, 26, one week before the ceremony. No reason was given at the time.
She dismissed difficulties in her personal life during Thursday’s announcement.
“Life moves on no matter what,” she said. “So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up and never give up.”
“When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher,” she added. “I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.”
Bristol’s previous pregnancy became an issue among social conservatives during the 2008 presidential election.
The birth of her son, Tripp, out of wedlock threatened to undermine then-Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s claims that she supported traditional family values.
Her decision to cancel the wedding to Meyer marks Bristol’s second engagement called off before the big day. She previously broke off an engagement with her longtime boyfriend and Tripp Palin’s father, Levi Johnston, in 2009.
