The LGBT Left should thank Trump for immigration order

By placing a 90-day moratorium on immigration from seven nations with high Muslim populations, President Donald Trump made good on a campaign promise that was the cornerstone of his campaign. In an executive order President Trump blocked immigration from Syria, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen.

Progressives were stunned. Among the liberal lamentations was an LGBT-Left lobby that, in criticizing President Trump, betrayed its own community by placing party politics before people.

{mosads}“President Trump’s attacks on immigrants and refugees are a direct assault on America’s most fundamental values,” said Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Not to be outdone by the HRC, Lambda Legal’s Rachel B. Tiven went were modern liberals love to go – Nazi Germany.  “We are not a country that discriminates against people based on religion or nationality,” Tiven said. “As a Jew whose grandparents watched in frustration while President Roosevelt refused to admit refugees from Nazi Germany, I am embarrassed for my country today.”

The fact is most progressives are embarrassed by this country. Their champion – former President Barack Obama – routinely apologized for America and bowed to foreign leaders.

Why do these folks feel the need to apologize? They look at this country and they do not see a nation that fought for freedom and a people who lead the fight for equality. Instead they see a nation that forced its will onto the world and a white Christian majority rooted in slavery.

But more importantly this gag reflex that causes progressives to recoil at American exceptionalism is predominant among the elites of the LGBT-Left. It is so predominant that rather than support a President who is working to prevent the LGBT community from become target practice for radicals, they link his actions to genocide.

This a great betrayal of the LGBT community. By putting the progressive kumbaya mentality above the safety of the LGBT community, these people are either hucksters, clueless, suffering from Stockholm syndrome or all three.

While Tiven proclaims that “[w]e are not a country that discriminates against people based on religion,” the fact is the LGBT-Left loves to discriminate against the Christian faith. Just this month openly gay Connecticut state comptroller Kevin Lembo targeted a Christian group because of its position on LGBT rights.

The response of the LGBT-Left? Crickets.

And while some may argue that the tough tone of the LGBT-Left towards the Christian Right was justified during the fight for marriage equality, the fight is over. Still the LGBT-Left remains obsessed with conservative Christianity with the greatest evil of the post-marriage equality becoming wedding cakes.

But when the issue of Islam surfaces, the entirety of the LGBT leadership goes limp. Where folks like Griffin and Tiven demand a Christian baker be fined if he says no to a same-sex couple, they come to the aid of an Islamic faith that cultivates an environment in which gays can be tossed from rooftops.

Make no mistake; not every Muslim wishes harm to the LGBT community. There are a number of who are friendly to the community but such are needles within a huge haystack. Just ask yourself of the seven nations included in the moratorium, how many are hotspots for LGBT vacationers?

The LGBT community and the Islamic faith just do not work well together. Where Christians would pray for their LGBT brothers and sisters (and maybe deny them a cake), some Islamists would jail them at best or stone them at worse.

So when people claim that Trump’s order imposes a “religious” test favoring Christians over Muslims, even if that is true why is that a bad thing? Is such a “test” not just pointing out what all of us know — or should know — that the Western and Islamic worlds are as similar as Pat Boone and Ozzy Osbourne?

By pausing immigration from these countries, President Trump is telling the world that radical Islam is a dangerous ideology and the West needs to get out in front of the evil it espouses. This is an historic win for the LGBT community and further proof that President Trump is being true to his convention promise that he would protect the LGBT community.

But to acknowledge this order as a win, folks like Griffin would have to concede that they were wrong about President Trump. It seems the LGBT-Left would rather bash the man with an olive branch than duck from the man with a fist full of rocks.
