Ron Paul makes news, again

For those who follow the latest moves of former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), the last week was interesting, as usual.

On June 10, Paul testified before the House Financial Services Committee in favor of his longstanding proposal for a comprehensive audit of the Federal Reserve Board. This is an important issue, and while reasonable people can disagree about whether and how to audit the Fed, Ron has done a real service raising this issue and inaugurating this debate.

{mosads}This week he carried the torch again, noting that strong legislation to audit the Fed has the support of a majority of House members and urging House leaders not to water down the proposal.

Since I consider Ron Paul to be one of the most incisive and interesting thinkers on the national political stage — whether I agree or disagree with his various positions — I am always on the lookout for new Ron Paul initiatives. In the course of this, I came upon what appears to be a major new forthcoming Ron Paul move.

There is a new site apparently in beta testing or early stages at www.voicesofliberty.com that I stumbled across. The site is titled “Voices of Liberty” and notes that it is “powered by Ron Paul.” There is not much detail, but the site includes a place for those interested to leave their email addresses to be notified of the launch. Obviously there is something big in the works that will be launched soon!

It is an important moment for both progressive populist liberals and libertarian conservatives and as always, Ron Paul is at the center of action, as is Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). I have recently written about how Ron Paul and Ralph Nader discussed potential areas of agreement on the Ron Paul Channel. From opposition to crony capitalism to protection of privacy and civil liberties, there are a growing number of issues that could provide fertile ground for left-right-libertarian cross-pollination.

The mainstream media do not give this much attention, but they should, and I encourage all to keep your eye out for what appears to be an upcoming launch of Voices of Liberty, powered by Ron Paul.
