They’re
challenging the parameters of what’s possible. David, an undocumented
immigrant, a UCLA student, and a great speaker is putting his story out
to advocate for immigration reform. Not only have they not checked
out but they’re boycotting marriage in support of the LGBT community,
as Alok has done. They’ve taken painful pasts, family stories that are
tragic and heart breaking and used them as a catalyst to prove that
it’s not where you’re from but where you’re going that matters – as
Jamira and Kevin have done. They fought for health care- even when the
pundits ignored them, they formed organizations like Jennifer has done,
and they’ve pushed back on the notion of family values as Michael has
done.
