Michelle Says She Is Proud of Her Country — But Is Her Husband?

We have nothing on which to judge a person other than his own words and actions. And judging by President Obama’s words and actions, he isn’t so very fond of the country he was elected to lead.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, the now-first lady, Michelle Obama, was rightfully vilified for her comments that because her husband’s campaign was going so well, “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.” She was forced to explain herself and backtrack, expressing love for the United States of America for the many reasons most Americans love this country — freedom, opportunity, strength, our ability and willingness to come to the financial and military aid of other countries, and a host of other noble attributes envied by the world.

Now that Barack Obama is president of the United States, he has embarked on an apology tour overseas, running down the United States, apologizing for perceived arrogance and other subjective traits, and worst of all, bowing to the Saudi king like a schoolboy before his idol.

No other president in the history of this great nation has trashed the United States in this manner. Obama apologized for the United States, saying that the rest of the world thinks we are “arrogant” and “dismissive” when no evidence to support such a sweeping accusation exists. There may have been some times when some Europeans thought some Americans were arrogant. It is a certainty that at times the sentiment was mutual. And neither is appropriate or useful for the president of the United States to discuss publicly while representing his country abroad.

And speaking of appropriateness, U.S. presidents do not bow before Saudi kings or anyone else, save the pope — EVER. George W. Bush holding the hand of the king while crossing the White House lawn cannot be compared to Obama bowing before the king (which the Obama White House is now lying about, saying that what we saw was not what we saw.) In fact, the difference is as significant as the difference between holding the hand of your husband or boyfriend, versus bowing down to him. Jaws are still dropped and yammerers still speechless over that one; it was just that bad.

Now that Michelle Obama has been forced to publicly deny the sentiment behind her statement regarding the existence of pride in her country, what will it take for her husband to do the same?
