Rep. Pelosi cheers World Series-bound Giants
{mosads}Pelosi congratulated the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday for winning a spot in the World Series as a result of Monday night’s game, which took place at the same time as the final presidential debate between Mitt Romney and President Obama.
So proud of the @sfgiants. They have great teamwork, the will to win + best fans in all of baseball. Let’s go win the World Series again!

The decisive seventh game of the National League Championship Series between the Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals was still going after the conclusion of the debate, which meant many politicos probably caught a few innings.
During the debate, though, most politicians avoided tweeting about the game. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), an avid sports fan who usually tweets during games, sent one tweet encouraging the Cardinals.
Ok Cards. Show em how we do clutch. #12in12#nevergiveup#stlcards

Several California politicians, including Gov. Jerry Brown and Rep. John Garamendi (D), combined tweets about the game with reminders that voter registration in the state closed at midnight.
We won the game. Now let’s win the election. Please make sure you’re registered: bit.ly/Prxr98 #SFGiants

The Chicago Bears also played the Detroit Lions on Monday night. As Rep. Dennis Ross (R-Fla.) noted, the evening was packed for politicians who are also sports fans.
