GOP senator upset there won’t be ‘Fluke-Flake’ legislation

At least one Republican is upset women’s rights activist Sandra Fluke will not run for Congress.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) tweeted Wednesday that her decision left a missed opportunity for a bicameral bill sponsored by the two called “Fluke-Flake.”

{mosads}Fluke, who had been eyeing a bid for retiring Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-Calif.) seat, said Tuesday she would forgo a national bid for Congress to instead run for the state Senate in California.

She said the state Senate would offer a better platform for her to “advance the causes that are important to our community.”

Fluke became a star in the Democratic Party and stumped for President Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012 after she was denied a seat to testify at a House Oversight Committee hearing regarding the administration’s contraception mandate and the derogatory comments aimed at her by talk show host Rush Limbaugh that followed.
