Cornyn pushes for Keystone provision on Twitter
{mosads}According to Cornyn’s office, the tweet is in reference to a demand Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) made that the Keystone provision stay in the payroll-tax-cut extension legislation.
A spokesman for McConnell confirmed that the senator “will not support any bill without the Keystone XL language as part of the agreement.”
Republicans have been pushing to make sure the provision makes its way into a final package. President Obama, though, has promised to veto any payroll-tax extension bill that includes the pipeline. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Friday that if a payroll-tax bill is sent from the Senate to the House, the pipeline provision will be added into it.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said an extension including the pipeline provision will be dead on arrival in the upper chamber.
