Canadian rockers to auction teaparty.com domain
{mosads}”It’s very rare when a domain name of this value and significance becomes available — especially one that is so timely and relevant,” said Kathy Nielsen, director of sales at Sedo, in a statement. “With the election season right around the corner, TeaParty.com provides the right investor with very significant marketing and revenue opportunities very few domain names can offer today. We are very pleased to be chosen as the exclusive brokerage firm to represent this domain sale.”
Stuart Chatwood, the bass player for the Canadian band that has owned the domain name since the 1990s, said that offers for the site have overwhelmed the band.
“We were floored by the worldwide press and interest in our domain name teaparty.com that soon followed the initial story in Businessweek,” Chatwood said in a statement.
While the band expects to make a substantial profit off the domain sale name, they have also parlayed their new notoriety into a revival tour. The band has thirteen dates scheduled across Canada in a recently announced “No Politics … Just Rock and Roll Tour” heavily promoted on the site.
