Veteran PAC slams Tucker Carlson for comments on female service members

A prominent veterans political action committee (PAC) on Thursday released a new ad slamming Fox News host Tucker Carlson for his complaints about recent changes in the military meant to attract and retain more female service members.

On Monday, President Biden marked International Women’s Day touting the recent promotion of two female generals. Biden also touched on efforts in recent years to make accommodations for women in the military such as work to design maternity flight suits for the Air Force and grooming standards for a range of hair types.

Carlson, however, took to the airwaves Tuesday to rail against the efforts, saying that pregnant women fighting in wars was a “mockery of the U.S. military.”

“While China’s military becomes more masculine as it has assembled the world’s largest navy, our military needs to become as Joe Biden says more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore,” he continued.

The PAC, VoteVets, on Thursday evening shared its 48-second ad on Twitter with a cutting caption aimed at Carlson.

“Women have laid down their lives for our military since before we were a nation. They have fought, bled, and died for @TuckerCarlson’s pathetic prep school ass to sit in that chair and mock them. We’re not gonna stand for it, and neither should you,” the organization wrote.

The video spliced together Carlson’s commentary with images of female service members training and combat footage.

“#TraitorCarlson’s got a thing about patriotic women,” the video states.

“This is the U.S. military,” the narrator in the video says. “The men and women who defend your freedom, something a prep school boy like you will never understand.”

The video then cuts to Carlson in what appears to be a satin blue shirt while making faces at the camera.

Senior military leaders this week voiced support for women in the military following Carlson’s comments.

“Women lead our most lethal units with character,” tweeted Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston, the service’s top enlisted leader.

“They will dominate ANY future battlefield we’re called to fight on. @TuckerCarlson’s words are divisive, don’t reflect our values. We have THE MOST professional, educated, agile, and strongest [noncommissioned officer] Corps in the world,” he added.
