A hacking group that stole $1 billion from banks in 2015 appears to have hacked Oracle, including a customer service website for Oracles large Micros brand of point-of-sale products.

Brian Krebs reports that Oracle confirmed that Micros Systems site was hacked. He also says “sources close to the investigation” tell him that the hack was as large as 700 other computers.

{mosads}Though there is no indication what the hackers’ goal was in the attack, there is some sign it may have been robbery. Krebs’s unnamed sources tell him Micros customer service servers were communicating with a server used by the Carabanak Gang, which digitally stole $1 billion from U.S. and Middle Eastern banks.

Oracle purchased Micros in 2014 for more than $5 billion. At the time, Micros point-of-sale software — the software used in cash registers and credit card scanners — was used in nearly 600,000 locations. Customers included hotels — such as Hilton, Hyatt and Wynn — restaurants — such as T.G.I Fridays and Starbucks — and retail sites — including Tesco and Ikea.

Oracle told Micros users to change their passwords.
