William McGinley, the former chief liaison between President Trump’s White House and federal government agencies, is headed to a lobbying shop.

He will be a principal at The Vogel Group, a bipartisan government affairs and global business advisory firm.

McGinley had served as White House Cabinet secretary since President Trump’s inauguration before leaving in July. His work included organizing the president’s Cabinet meetings, policy implementation, and logistics between the White House and Cabinet members.

Vogel, who launched the firm in January 2018, was chief counsel to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.).

“I am thrilled to join Alex and the talented team at The Vogel Group. The Vogel Group has a proven track record of helping clients navigate the difficult intersection of policy and politics by finding creative solutions that advance their clients’ goals,” McGinley said.

Before the White House, McGinley was deputy counsel at the Republican National Committee and general counsel at the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

When McGinley left the White House, Trump chief of staff Mick Mulvaney praised him as “an integral part of the President’s team” and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross called him a “dedicated public servant and a steadfast advocate for President Trump and his vision for America” in statements released by the White House at the time.

“Bill McGinley is a dedicated public servant who has worked hard to deliver wins for the Administration and the American people,” Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao also said at the time.

McGinley can register for congressional lobbying immediately but is subject to the executive branch post-employment limitations for former senior White House officials, which include a five-year ban for lobbying the White House and the remainder of the Trump administration for departments and agencies.
