Appointments

• Lawrence Romo has been nominated to become director of the Selective Service System. Romo, a retired lieutenant colonel of the United States Air Force Reserve, is the Soldier and Family Assistance program manager for the U.S. Army 5th Recruiting Brigade. He is also an admissions liaison officer for the United States Air Force Academy. 

{mosads}• President Obama has nominated Caryn Wagner as undersecretary for Intelligence and Analysis at the Homeland Security Department. Wagner is currently an instructor in intelligence resource management for the Intelligence and Security Academy LLC. She retired from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on Oct. 1, 2008; she had served as budget director and cyber security coordinator. 

• Philip Goldberg has been nominated to become assistant secretary for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research at the State Department. Goldberg, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, is the United States coordinator for implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions on North Korea. He has served as ambassador to Bolivia; chief of mission in Kosovo and Charge d’Affaires and deputy chief of mission in Chile.
