GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare hired Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP to work on Food and Drug Administration over-the-counter policies and appropriations for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention oral health, chronic disease and tobacco cessation programs. Jim Twaddell, former legislative aide to ex-Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), will work on the account.
Welltower Inc., a real estate investment trust primarily invested in health care properties, hired Mehlman Castagnetti Rosen & Thomas to work on regulatory and legislative issues related to elder care facilities and other health care properties. Bruce Mehlman, former general counsel and policy director for the House Republican Conference, and David Castagnetti, former chief of staff to ex-Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), will be among those working on the account.

The Doerrer Group, on behalf of Uber Technologies Inc., hired Summit Strategies Government Affairs LLC to monitor development of FAST Act Reauthorization, infrastructure investment legislation and financing for the Highway Trust Fund, as well as issues related to reimbursement of transportation network companies for transportation services, mobility on demand and the safety of transportation network companies. Knowmadics Inc., an information technology services company, hired Barker Leavitt PLLC to work on issues associated with the Internet of Things that relate to law enforcement activities, as well as the fiscal 2022 House and Senate commerce, state and justice appropriations bills. Ryan Leavitt, former legislative director to Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), will work on the account.
ECONOMY
Economic Security Project Action hired Pioneer Public Affairs to work on issues related to economic policy, particularly for increased federal spending in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Joseph Britton, former chief of staff to Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), will work on the account.
