The Managed Funds Association named Bryan Corbett, a former partner and managing director at the Carlyle Group, the new president and chief executive, effective Jan. 21. Corbett previously worked in President George W. Bush’s administration. He replaces former Rep. Richard Baker (R-La.), who will leave the hedge fund industry group after serving as president since 2008.

 

Former Rep. Jeff Miller (R-Fla.) was named co-chairman at Mercury Public Affairs. He previously was at McDermott Will & Emery.

 

Kimberly Woodard joined Stewart Strategies & Solutions. She previously managed her own government relations practice, the WesleyPrestonGreen Group and before that was the director of federal government relations for eight years at Walmart.

 

Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno, the executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance, is stepping down in March to join Human Rights Watch. She previously worked at Human Rights Watch as a co-director.

 

Winning Strategies Washington, a bipartisan lobby, grant-writing and government marketing firm in D.C., announced a formal affiliation with O’Donnell and Associates, a government relations firm headquartered in New York.

 

Bridgett Frey, former communications director for Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), will be the director of client services at Bully Pulpit Interactive, effective Jan. 21.

 

Terri Fariello was named to the board of directors of the Humane Rescue Alliance. She is the senior vice president of government affairs and public policy for United Airlines.

 

ROKK Solutions named Jeff Grappone senior vice president on its public affairs team. He was previously deputy staff director of the Senate Republican Conference and before that was an assistant secretary at the Labor Department.
