Former House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.), will be a senior director in the Government Law & Policy Practice at the law firm Greenberg Traurig, the firm announced on Thursday.
Frelinghuysen, who was chairman of the House Appropriations from 2017 to 2019, did not seek reelection in 2018 after serving 12 terms in Congress.
“Adding him to our Federal Practice offers another layer of quality and excellence in key areas important to the marketplace. His experience and passion for making a difference on Capitol Hill are the cornerstones of his success and in turn will serve our clients well,” Ernest L. Greer, Co-President of Greenberg Traurig, said in a press release.
The former congressman will advise clients on defense, health care, higher education, and transportation and infrastructure—specifically port operations.
“I am excited to join such a respected and formidable team with deep roots in New York and New Jersey, as well as in Washington, D.C., with a highly effective bipartisan approach. I look forward to contributing to their efforts and working with a broad range of clients on Capitol Hill,” Frelinghuysen said in the release.
He joins the ranks of former GOP members of the House who have decided to stay in Washington, including Sean Duffy (R-Wis.), who is at BGR; Jeff Denham (Calif.), who is at K&L Gates; John Culberson (Texas), who is at Clark Hill; Lamar Smith (Texas) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Fla.), who are in Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP’s Washington office; and Bill Shuster (Pa.), who is at Squire Patton Boggs.
