Former Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.), a former chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee who served eight terms in Congress, joined lobbying firm Michael Best Strategies as a senior counselor.
American Airlines announced that Juan Hinojosa is joining the company as managing director on the global government affairs team. He previously was chief of staff to Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) for more than seven years and before that was director of federal government relations at Strategies 360.
Managed Funds Association hired Jillien Flores as head of U.S. government affairs. She previously worked in government relations at Vanguard for more than six years and before that was a director at Porterfield, Lowenthal, Fettig & Sears LLC. The association also promoted Jennifer Han to chief counsel and head of regulatory affairs. She previously was managing director and counsel and has worked at the association for nearly 15 years.
Dan Sennott, former Republican staff director for the House Armed Services Committee, joined Holland & Knight LLP as a partner in the public policy and regulation practice group. He worked for the House committee for nearly six years and before that served as chief of military personnel law in the Office of the Judge Advocate General.
Alston & Bird LLP hired James Paluskiewicz as a senior policy adviser. He was the chief health counsel for Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health for more than five years. The firm also hired Neleen Rubin as senior policy adviser. She previously was a health policy aide to Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee.
