Spirit Airlines announced on Friday that it canceled around 100 flights in order to complete inspections, and the disruption could last several days.

The budget airline gave little information on why or how the planes would be inspected, but said in a statement that they were necessary out of an abundance of caution.

“We’ve cancelled a portion of our scheduled flights to perform a necessary inspection of a small section of 25 of our aircraft,” the Florida-based airline said in a statement. “While this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution, the impact to our network is expected to last several days as we complete the inspections and work to return to normal operations.”

As of Oct. 1, the airline said it had 202 planes.

Spirit canceled 98 flights Friday — making up only 11 percent of the scheduled flights for the day — according to FlightAware‘s tracking website. Most were at Florida’s Orlando International Airport.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to take care of affected Guests,” their statement said.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it was aware of Spirit’s decision and “will ensure that the matter is addressed before the airplanes are returned to service,” the Associated Press reported.

Spirit has canceled more than 3,600 flights this year, according to the AP.

People with scheduled flights should monitor their email and the company’s website and app before heading to the airport, the airline advised.
