Republicans have been increasingly optimistic about their chances of expanding their narrow 51-49 Senate majority after the polarizing confirmation battle over Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Democrats by contrasts face a more unfavorable Senate map this year, as they must defend 10 seats in states won by President Trump in 2016, including Indiana and West Virginia.
Recent polls have shown both Manchin and Donnelly leading their Republican opponents.
