More Americans satisfied with Biden’s campaign than Trump’s: Gallup
More Americans are satisfied with the way that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has conducted his campaign compared to President Trump, according to a new Gallup poll.
About 56 percent of respondents said that they are satisfied with Biden’s campaign, compared to 46 percent of Americans who view the Trump campaign as satisfactory. Along party lines, 90 percent of Democrats and Republicans polled said that they are satisfied with their party nominee’s campaign, Gallup noted.
Americans who self-identified as independents were also more satisfied with Biden’s campaign than Trump’s. Nearly 55 percent said that Biden’s campaign is satisfactory compared to 39 percent who said they are satisfied with Trump’s campaign, according to Gallup.
Trump’s campaign received higher ratings this year than it did in 2016. Four years ago, his campaign was viewed as satisfactory by only 29 percent of respondents, receiving one of the lowest ratings for a major-party candidate that Gallup has recorded in the last six election cycles, according to the survey giant.
Former President Obama in 2008 received a rating of 66 percent, which is the highest for any presidential candidate. Democrat Al Gore was the only other presidential candidate to receive a rating above 60 percent when his campaign was rated as satisfactory by 61 percent of respondents in 2000, according to Gallup.
The late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was the only other presidential candidate other than Trump to receive a satisfactory rating under 50 percent. Only 40 percent of Americans were satisfied with his campaign against Obama in 2008, according to Gallup.
The Biden campaign this year outranked Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign by 6 percentage points. Nearly 50 percent of Americans were satisfied with the way she conducted her campaign four years ago.
All of the new data is based on a Gallup poll that was conducted nationwide with a sample of 1,018 adults 18 years old and older from Oct. 16-27. Its results have a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
