Stephen Baldwin — actor, family man, born-again Christian — makes his home in upstate New York with his wife and two young daughters. He is the youngest of the Baldwin brothers (Daniel, Alec and Billy) acting clan.
After working in a Manhattan pizza parlor and as a Calvin Klein model, Baldwin captured key roles in everything from “The Usual Suspects” to “Bio-Dome.” A Massapequa, N.Y., native, he gained notice in his teens as a successful opera singer before pursuing acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Before long, he was busy with roles in both film (“Posse,” “8 Seconds,” “A Simple Twist of Fate”) and television (“The Young Riders”).
Most recently, he directed, co-produced and hosted “Livin’ It” — a cutting-edge skate video that takes a hardcore look at some of the biggest talents in skateboarding and BMX, showing kids that you can live the edgy lifestyle and “do it for Jesus Christ,” he said.
He is active in charity work for the Carol M. Baldwin Cancer Research Fund, and still finds time for his hobbies, which include billiards, skydiving and superbike racing.
ROBIN BRONK: If you had five minutes in the Oval Office with President Obama, what would you discuss with him? What issue would you like him to know about?
STEPHEN BALDWIN: I’d want to know if he had anything to do over again in this current term — what would it be and why? I’d also like to discuss domestic human trafficking.
RB: If you could give President Obama one piece of advice, what would that be?
SB: Reconsider his position in funding abortion.
RB: If you could ask President Obama one question, what would that be?
SB: Do you honestly think you can win the next election?
RB: What book would you offer to lend President Obama? Why?
SB: The Bible — because it is the greatest source of guidance and truth.
RB: If you were going to send the president to one place in the United States for one day, where would that be? Why?
SB: Anywhere in America where the gas companies are implementing hydrofracking. It is this process that has the greatest potential of destroying our most important natural resource, our drinking water that allows our families to survive.
RB: Would you ever consider a political career?
SB: No, although most of my skeletons are out of the closet. Sadly, the American political system is so corrupted only God can fix it.
