Arne Duncan, who served as a Secretary of Education under former President Obama, compared in a tweet those who are against wearing masks and getting vaccines to suicide bombers in Afghanistan who claim to be “fighting for freedom.”
Arne Duncan, who was a cabinet member from 2009 to 2016, made his comments on Sunday.

“Have you noticed how strikingly similar both the mindsets and actions between the suicide bombers at Kabul’s airport, and the anti-mask and anti-vax people here?” Duncan wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
“They both blow themselves up, inflict harm on those around them, and are convinced they are fighting for freedom.”
While it was up, the tweet received backlash on social media. Some called the tweet distasteful to the victims killed by terrorists and disrespectful to the military families.
“So disrespectful. You owe those military families an apology for using them like this. Disgusting,” wrote one Twitter user.
Last week, an ISIS-K suicide bomber and gunmen attacked the Kabul airport, killing 13 U.S. service members and at least 170 Afghans.
