A bomb cyclone is expected to hit the Northeast and mid-Atlantic with winter weather this weekend.
“Confidence is increasing that a significant winter storm will create considerable impacts Friday through the weekend from the Mid-Atlantic through the Northeast,” the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center said.
Much of the eastern half of the U.S. is expected to see temperatures 10-20 degrees below normal for this time of year.

The Weather Prediction Center expects the cyclone it will bring snow, freezing rain, high winds and flooding that will greatly impact travel in the Northeast Saturday.
“It is becoming more likely that it will bring significant snow, sleet and freezing rain to the region, including the I-95 metropolitan areas,” the Weather Prediction Center said. “Hazardous travel conditions are possible.”
