Chelsea Clinton sticks up for Republican congressman

Chelsea Clinton says there’s more to Rep. Aaron Schock than just a six-pack (or is that an eight-pack?).

The former first daughter met the ripped Illinois Republican last week as a co-moderator on a panel Schock participated in at the Republican National Convention.

{mosads}Schock’s name came up during an event Wednesday in Charlotte when, while talking to Clinton, MTV star Andrew Jenks mentioned the lawmaker — who has posed for the cover of Men’s Health magazine — has “great abs.”

Explaining to a packed audience that Schock was vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s workout partner, Clinton, 32, said of the ab-tastic congressman, “So, unfortunately, I fear for him that will be kind of what he’s most known for. Although he was on the stage [last week] desperately trying to talk about education reform and not P90X or the [Insanity] workout, which are apparently their two go-to’s.”

Jenks cracked of the high-intensity fitness routines that “we know [them] too well. Because we work out every day.”

Without missing a beat, Clinton broke from her poised demeanor and quipped, “Oh, yes, [we work out] together. Frequently.”

She then said to laughs from the crowd, “Kind of awkward we just shared that.”

Schock’s office did not respond to a request for comment about Clinton’s remarks.
