Chamber of Commerce fires back at ‘crying baby’ Perdue in Georgia

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is further escalating its war of words with businessman David Perdue (R), launching a last-minute ad against the Senate candidate that says he’s “crying like a little baby.”

{mosads}Perdue had sought the Chamber’s endorsement, but they instead backed his primary opponent, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), and have invested heavily in ads touting Kingston. Perdue has responded by slamming the group as “pro-amnesty” in recent ads and deriding them on the stump.

Now, as voters head to the polls, the Chamber is firing one more salvo in what’s been a contentious primary.

“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce stands up for American enterprise. We fight for jobs. So why is David Perdue attacking us? Well, he sought our endorsement several times. he didn’t get it. Now, losing and desperate, David is crying like a little baby,” the ad’s narrator says.

Kingston has had a small edge over Perdue in recent polling, and the winner of Tuesday’s primary will go on to face well-funded Democrat Michelle Nunn this fall in what could be a competitive race.

If Perdue pulls off a win on Tuesday it will be interesting to see if the Chamber sits out the general election — or whether they might consider backing Nunn, who’s cultivated a centrist image.
