Travel ban issued in NYC for blizzard

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Saturday issued a travel ban in New York City due to the massive blizzard that is projected to wallop the city with as much as 30 inches of snow.
 
The governor said at a press conference that the ban will start at 2:30 p.m. 
 
{mosads}He told citizens only to use the roads for emergencies and said drivers who do not abide by the ban will face hefty fines and license points.
 
Several above-ground subway stations will shutter at 4:00 p.m., he said, but underground trains will continue to operate. Bus services were also cancelled at noon.
 
About 1,000 flights out of New York City airports Saturday have already been canceled.
 
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the storm will go down as one of the worst in the city’s history.
