George W. Bush to release book of paintings
Former President George W. Bush is slated to release a book of paintings early next year.
“Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors” is slated for release Feb. 28.
{mosads}The book will offer 66 color portraits and a four-panel mural of U.S. military members painted by America’s 43rd president, according to the product’s description.
The book will include forewords by former first lady Laura Bush and retired Gen. Peter Pace, who served as Bush’s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The profits from the book will be donated to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which has a military service initiative focused on helping post-9/11 veterans and their families.
“This is a book about the men and women who have been tremendous national assets in the Armed Forces — and who continue to be vital to the future success of our country,” Bush writes in the introduction, according to The Associated Press, which first reported on the release.
“The greatest honor of the presidency was looking them in the eye and saluting them as their Commander in Chief. And I intend to support and salute them for the rest of my life,” he writes.
The book will retail for $35, though a $250 version will also be available, which will reportedly come cloth-bound and signed by Bush.
The AP said that paintings from the book would be on exhibit at the presidential center in Dallas between March and October next year.
