President Trump reassured Americans on Thursday that they are “very safe” despite North Korea’s advancing nuclearization program.

“People in this country will be very, very safe,” Trump said when asked about the country while returning from Florida onboard Air Force One on Thursday.

“I think that a lot of effort is going to be put into this,” he continued.

While the president would not discuss his strategy in North Korea on Thursday, he has repeatedly refused to rule out using a military strike to take out some of North Korea’s nuclear facilities.

Earlier this week, Trump called the United Nations Security Council resolution imposing the toughest sanctions yet on Pyongyang in response to nuclear tests “not a big deal.”

The administration earlier this week responded to North Korea’s aggressiveness by threatening to impose sanctions on nations that do business with North Korea, which include China.

The president went on to tell reporters Thursday that he is planning on visiting China, South Korea and Japan in November.

The president has targeted China in recent months for their role in the crisis on the Korean peninsula, publicly saying Beijing has not done enough to subdue Pyongyang.

However, Trump appeared to praise Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, saying, “We have a great relationship with China, and the president of China.”
