The Vir{tech}tual World Ahead

The shift to all things digital has been slower than most realize. Major tracks of interaction between people have remained stubbornly analog, but the trend toward digital was there, just incremental.

That shift has now become a tsunami. Accommodating our new normal has meant an increased reliance on telecommunication networks and an accelerated digitalization of industries. Yet, there are neighborhoods across the country which lack the infrastructure to participate in this digital ecosystem.

We can take stock of what is happening now to set an inclusive and secure course for our digital realities and our digital infrastructure. What are the lessons we are learning? Will they shape a new set of priorities for policymakers and regulators? How should leaders in Washington approach the goals of coverage, access, affordability and capacity?

The Hill will convene lawmakers, policy practitioners, and tech stakeholders for a conversation on the ‘vir-tech-tual world’ of today, and tomorrow.
