Diabetes & The Future of Healthcare Reform

As the next four years of healthcare policy take shape, it is a critical moment for the 1 in 10 Americans living with diabetes. For those with chronic conditions, healthcare reform is not just a talking point, it’s a life-saver that could mean easy access to quality care for those who need it most.

Surprise medical billing, step therapy, and drug rebates are some of the many issues often cited as added complications within our current patient care model. While many technological advances have been made within diabetes care, access to these innovations remain unaffordable for many. As a pandemic continues and unemployment rises, the cost of care and lack of access has become even more relevant.

What will the future bring in terms of healthcare reform for patients with diabetes? Are there improvements that can be made to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance? How can we align incentives and restructure our nation’s healthcare system so that it works for everyone, including those with chronic conditions?

The Hill will sit down policymakers, care providers, and healthcare advocates for a timely discussion on commercial insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, and healthcare reform as a whole, with a focus on patients with diabetes.
