Revitalizing America’s Cities

Cities across the US experienced the economic fallout of COVID-19. While the pandemic exposed many weaknesses in our economy, it also uncovered new strengths. Many Americans started microbusinesses, online businesses with fewer than 10-employees, and found a new avenue to economic mobility. As cities look to re-build in a more inclusive and resilient matter, what role can microbusinesses play?

On July 15, The Hill hosts mayors and entrepreneurs from across the country for a virtual conversation on how microbusinesses could re-energize our cities.

Microbusinesses, or ventures, are an essential part of communities everywhere and have an extraordinary impact on local economies. But for many elected officials, they remain hidden. Our goal is to empower policymakers and economic developers with the data and insights they need to better support microbusinesses and the people behind them. We partnered with researchers and economists to develop Venture Forward, which measures microbusiness impact across the U.S to help city leaders build stronger, more inclusive local economies. Read about the latest findings here.
